Pamela C. Stofferahn

Senior Pastor
Ph. (651) 429-5411
E-mail:

    1. I was born and baptized in Freeport, Illinois and lived with my family in various Illinois locations (following my father’s career as a public school administrator) until we finally settled in a suburb of Chicago during my high school years. I graduated from Carthage College in Kenosha, WI, where I deepened my love of words and language, theatre and music. I met my husband Ken on a theatre trip to Stratford, Ontario, in 1980 and married him in August of 1983. Within the week, we moved to Virginia so he could attend graduate school at the University of Virginia and stayed a few more years when he accepted his first associate professor position in the Theatre Department at Virginia Tech. My work supporting him through grad school launched me into a human resources career which continued to blossom when we moved to the Twin Cities in the late 80’s.

My work in human resources led me to pursue a Master’s Degree in Education at the University of Minnesota in the 90’s that focused on human resources development. Not long after that, congregational involvement and deepening faith led me to Luther Seminary in St. Paul and ordination as a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in 2005. I served King of Kings Lutheran Church in Woodbury, MN, as an associate pastor before assuming the role of senior pastor here at Redeemer in 2008.

Theatre, music, film and literature continue to be passions . . . you’ll often find Ken and me at the theatre, even when he’s not involved in the production! We also enjoy biking and skiing and simply being outdoors. We have one son, Hunter, who lives in northern California, giving us the best excuse possible to travel west as often as we can.

Candace Moser

Associate Pastor of Congregation Care, part-time, Tues. through Thurs.
Ph. (651) 429-5411

    1. During my first pre-entrance interview at Luther Seminary, I remember telling the Rev. Dr. Paul Berge, “I know that someday and somehow, my love of languages and people, health and theology will all come together.” And it did! Years later, Dr. Berge and I found our selves, together, on a mission trip to Slovakia where I had been invited to help the Rev. Dr. Natalia Kacian establish pastoral care in her country.

Undergraduate degrees in French and nursing along with a master’s degree from Luther Theological Seminary have brought me to where I am today. I’ve also completed 5 units of CPE (clinical pastoral education), 4 of them at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. This love of being with people at the intersection of faith and life, specifically faith and healthcare, is my passion. As one who delights in learning, I’m also a 2nd year student at the Christos Center for Spiritual Formation in Lino Lakes.

I live in Arden Hills where I enjoy biking and walking my 2 Portuguese Water Dogs, “Pebbles” and “Maestro”, around Lake Johanna. Other hobbies include baking – the art I learned from my parents who owned and operated a small Czech bakery in Jackson, MN - knitting, music, fishing, traveling, all things alpaca and reading. Of course I love spending time with my 3 adult children, Courtney, Matthew and Christian whenever possible.

    1. I grew up in a few small towns in South Dakota – both of them East of the Missouri River, close to nothing – where it was so flat that things didn’t roll. My parents were farm kids who grew up to be a CPA and an English/Drama teacher – you can decide which one I take after once you’ve heard me preach a few times! They made the decision to spell my name with an “f” instead of a “ph” – and I’m really picky about getting it right! I have one younger sister who resides in another Twin Cities suburb with her husband – and they are all some of my favorite people to spend time with, so you may see them around!

I went to college in Brookings, SD at South Dakota State University, where I changed majors approximately 100 times, finally graduating with a degree in Spanish. I do speak it fairly fluently – so long as I get practice! I met my husband, Marty, in a public speaking club called Toastmasters – and we have been together for 8 years, married for 7, parents for 6. He grew up in Western South Dakota – where there are plentiful hills – in the family of a Wisconsin Synod Lutheran preacher. Because of this, he is incredibly attuned to the rhythms of church life – and has been an amazing support on my journey to becoming a pastor. We have two sons – Royce who is 6 and Arthur who is 4. Royce is in 1st grade, and wants to know everything about how EVERYTHING works – it’s fun to see him so filled with curiosity! He’s calm and patient just like his father. Arthur is in preschool, and loves Paw Patrol, anything with wheels or sparkles, and people – a very charming young man, with an energy and spirit to match his mother.

My favorite things to do in my spare time are theater, music, art of any kind, and tv! You can find me in my spare time with whatever latest show is on Netflix, crocheting, painting, writing or just trying to recover from parenting young children.

I’ve been looking forward to becoming a pastor since the day I set foot on Luther Seminary campus in 2011 – and I’m in awe and gratitude at the work that I’ve seen done by the Holy Spirit and the people I’ve learned and grown with that brought me to you this fall. I am so excited for what God has in store for us together – and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve with you all!

Katie Kohler
Director of Worship and Music

    1. I was born and raised in Minnesota. I began playing piano at the age of five, flute at the age of six, and added voice lessons to the mix when I was twelve. I started teaching piano at the age of ten, and flute at the age of fourteen. I became involved in church music around the age of nine when I began playing my flute in our church band. I became more involved as I got older, singing and playing for special music, and eventually subbing on keys/vocals for our music director.

I attended the University of Minnesota for both my undergraduate and graduate studies in Flute Performance,
getting my Bachelor’s of Music in 2014 and Master’s of Music in 2016. While completing my undergraduate, I held an Interim Organist and Interim Contemporary Band Leader position at my home church. That’s when I really
started thinking about church music as a career. Up to that point I was shooting for an orchestral career. I struggled with that decision until I became a music director at St. Luke Lutheran Church while completing my Master’s
Degree. I enjoyed my job so much I decided to go in that direction! I also found that music was my way of praising God, and having a position like that really left me fulfilled. I’m still actively involved in the flute community by
teaching, playing solo recitals, and volunteering on various boards and committees.

Besides my musical endeavors, I enjoy reading, cooking, dancing, writing, and hanging out with my cat, Murmur!
